Every station in the GoFM network carries the same tagline, "muzica aleasa pe sprânceana," music chosen with a raised eyebrow, a wink at just how particular the programming is. goROCK is the network's answer for listeners who want that same discerning ear applied to rock and metal, pulling from classic rock staples and harder contemporary tracks instead of trying to squeeze the genre into a generic hits format.

Born Online in Sibiu, Then Onto the Airwaves

GoFM started life in 2008 as an internet-only station out of Sibiu, a city better known for its Saxon architecture and medieval old town than its rock scene. It took a decade of building an audience before the station earned an actual FM license, going live on 90.4 FM in Sibiu on June 7, 2018, a milestone that turned a niche internet project into a licensed regional broadcaster.

One Signal, Several Studios

What makes GoFM unusual is its footprint: the network runs studios not just in Sibiu but in Cluj and, notably, Munich, reflecting how large the Romanian diaspora in Germany has become. That Munich studio means goROCK and its sister channels aren't just serving listeners at home, they're built to reach Romanians who left but still want music that sounds like it was chosen by someone who actually understands the audience.

A Family of Channels, Each With Its Own Lane

GoFM splits its programming across a set of dedicated channels rather than one catch-all feed, including goJAZZ, goREBEL, goCAFE and goSCHLAGER alongside goROCK. That structure lets each stream commit fully to its genre, and goROCK uses that freedom to run rock and metal around the clock, from decades-old staples to newer, harder-edged tracks, without diluting the mix to fit a broader, softer format.

Why Sibiu's Rock Fans Get a Station of Their Own

Romania's rock and metal following has always had passionate pockets of fans but relatively few dedicated stations willing to commit to the genre full time. goROCK fills that gap directly, giving a country with a genuine appetite for heavier music a channel built specifically for it, rather than a handful of rock songs scattered through an otherwise unrelated playlist.
