Groove Cabane streams house, disco, funk and electro grooves around the clock from the Paris area in France, with live DJs and its own original productions. You can stream it live and free right now on Radio Shuffle, wherever you are in the world.
A Webradio With Its Own Identity
Groove Cabane is a French-language online station based in the Paris area, and its official site shows a team-led operation: Mr. Deaf handles direction and programming, and Petit Jack handles sound design and programming, supported by a roster of DJs and hosts. Directories such as Online Radio Box list it under dance, electro, funk and house, and the station works under contract with SACEM and SCPP, the French rights bodies, so the music is properly licensed.
More Than a Playlist
The site points to two podcast series, Sampleurs et Sans Reproches and Les Bandes Originales, plus original projects called La Prod des Potes and La Groove Popotte. Those give the station a workshop feel, closer to a group of friends who make and dig for music than to an automated jukebox. Apps for iPhone and Android and messaging features let listeners talk back to the hosts.
Why French Ears Know This Sound So Well
The filtered, disco-sampling groove at the heart of Groove Cabane owes a lot to French house, the sound that took off in the 1990s. According to Wikipedia's entry on French house, artists such as Daft Punk, Cassius and Stardust brought it worldwide attention, while others like Bob Sinclar, Etienne de Crecy, Modjo and Air carried it further. Its trademark was filter and phaser effects used alongside samples from late 1970s and early 1980s European disco records, which is why disco and house sit so comfortably together on this station.
