Named After a Bremen Broadcasting Institution
The channel's name comes directly from Arnd Zeigler, a broadcaster who started presenting at Radio Bremen in 1989 and spent roughly two decades as an editor and host at Bremen Vier, the station's pop-focused channel. Zeigler built a loyal following there with a pop music show carrying the same "wunderbare Welt" branding that later made him a household name across Germany, before stepping away from radio entirely in 2024.
The Format That Made Him a Cult Figure Nationally
Zeigler's biggest claim to fame came from applying that same "wunderbare Welt" format to football rather than pop. Zeiglers wunderbare Welt des Fußballs launched in 2007 and has aired regularly on WDR ever since, built around fake interviews, absurd commentary and a cult following among German football fans. He has also served as the stadium announcer for Werder Bremen since 2001, making him one of the few broadcasters in Germany known equally for radio pop programming, television football comedy and matchday stadium announcing, all from the same city.
A Pop Channel That Outlasted the Live Show
Zeigler's original pop show eventually left Bremen Vier's daily schedule, but the station kept the "Zeiglers wunderbare Welt des Pop" name running as a dedicated streaming channel, carrying forward the same pop identity he built over his two decades on air. It is a smaller, more specific slice of Radio Bremen's programming than the main Bremen Vier signal, built for listeners who want that familiar pop mix without needing a live host behind the microphone.
