Decades later, the Mannheim-based broadcaster runs a webradio-only spinoff built for a very specific kind of listener: Radio Regenbogen Rock, a channel with one job, playing classic and hard rock nonstop.
A Legacy Station's Rock and Roll Side Project
Radio Regenbogen's main FM signal has always leaned toward a broad, mixed format of music, news and talk for the wider Rhein-Neckar region. Radio Regenbogen Rock exists outside that structure entirely, an internet-only channel that lets the network serve its rock-loving audience without disrupting the mainstream program the rest of its listeners tune in for.
Six Decades of Riffs, No Filler
The channel's programming stretches from the genre's 1960s roots through its heaviest eras, mixing foundational acts like the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin with harder-edged bands such as Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Van Halen. It's a deliberately narrow format, guitar riffs, Hammond organs and driving drums, built to satisfy listeners who want rock and nothing but rock.
Web-Only, But Not an Afterthought
The wider Regenbogen network has a separate FM rock outlet too, Regenbogen 2, which relaunched under the name ROCK FM in 2024 and covers newer rock alongside classics for the Mannheim, Heidelberg and Heilbronn area. Radio Regenbogen Rock stays focused purely on the vintage end of the genre, giving the network's oldest rock fans a channel built entirely around them.
