KIIS 1065 plays contemporary hit radio and pop from Sydney, Australia, on 106.5 FM, with a breakfast show that has been central to its identity. You can stream it live and free right now on Radio Shuffle, wherever you are in the world.
A Frequency With a Century of History
The station behind KIIS 1065 started as 2UW on February 13, 1925, an AM station that in 1935 became the first outside the United States to broadcast 24 hours a day, according to Wikipedia's history of KIIS 106.5. On April 30, 1994, 2UW moved to FM at 106.5 MHz and became Mix 106.5, borrowing the name of a Baltimore station.
From Mix to KIIS
ARN announced in December 2013 that Mix 106.5 would relaunch as KIIS 1065, and the new station went to air at 5:54 am on January 20, 2014. The name echoed the KIIS brand used by American stations in the same group, and the rebrand coincided with the arrival of The Kyle and Jackie O Show as the breakfast programme.
The Breakfast Move That Shook Sydney
Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O left rival 2Day FM in December 2013 and joined KIIS in January 2014. As Mumbrella's ratings coverage explained, the show quickly tied for first place among Sydney's commercial FM breakfast programmes while 2Day FM's audience fell sharply. Few radio moves have reshaped a city's ratings so quickly.
What Comes Next
According to Wikipedia, the duo left the station in February 2026, and ARN has announced a new breakfast team of Dr Chris Brown, Amy Gerard and Jack Charles. The format stays hot adult contemporary and contemporary hit radio under ARN Media, so the playlist remains the biggest pop and chart songs.
