Q-Music Limburg streams contemporary hit radio with regional programming built specifically for one of the Netherlands' most distinct provinces. It is free to listen right now, anywhere in the world, no account required.
A Joint Venture With a Local Broadcaster
Q-music Limburg has broadcast in the province since June 1, 2014, taking over a frequency package originally meant for local radio that had previously carried RadioNL. The station operates as a joint venture between national broadcaster Qmusic and Bartelet Holding Maastricht, the owner of Radio Limburg, pairing a national hit radio brand with a company that already knew the local market.
Regional Programming by Law
For years the station ran twenty hours of the national Qmusic feed daily, with a regional window from 9am to 1pm produced separately for Limburg listeners. That balance shifted when Dutch broadcasting regulations changed, barring the station from simply relaying national programming on local frequencies. Q-music Limburg responded by expanding its own regional programming to comply, giving the province a schedule built specifically for it rather than a mostly-national feed with a local window attached.
Broadcasting Into a Province With Its Own Identity
That local focus matters more in Limburg than in most Dutch provinces. Limburg shares far more border length with Germany and Belgium than with the rest of the Netherlands, and its own Limburgish language holds official recognition as a minority language. Carnival, celebrated with local dialect music that most Limburgers insist on over standard Dutch lyrics, functions as one of the clearest markers of the province's distinct identity, with many residents describing themselves as Limburgish before Dutch.
