A Decade on NTS, Then a Clean Break
Founder Charlie Bones had hosted the Do!! You!!! Breakfast Show on NTS Radio for roughly a decade before he stepped down live on air in August 2021, telling listeners he needed to draw a line in the sand after a long run at the station. Rather than take the show elsewhere, he set out to build a station of his own, with no backer and no existing audience to hand.
A Station Raised by Its Own Audience
Bones launched a fundraiser in October 2021, describing the new project as "a family affair supported directly by you" and asking listeners to back it through merchandise and direct donations rather than waiting on sponsors. The approach worked: a test transmission went out on 15 October, and the station launched properly on 25 October 2021, built from the ground up on listener money rather than ad revenue.
Built With a Fellow DJ, Not a Media Company
Bones set up the venture with business partner and fellow DJ Oscar G, keeping the operation close and independent rather than folding it into an existing broadcaster's roster. That structure lets the station run however its two founders see fit, free of the programming constraints that come with being one show among dozens on someone else's station.
