Vintage 94.1 HD2 broadcasts on a digital subchannel of Culiacán's Stereo Uno signal, using a technology explained by HD Radio's own technical documentation as multicasting: FM stations equipped with HD Radio technology can broadcast supplemental digital program streams, known as HD-2, HD-3, and HD-4 channels, alongside their main analog broadcast, all without needing a separate FCC-equivalent license or frequency. That means Stereo Uno's main signal can keep its established format while a second, entirely different station, in this case an eighties, nineties, and two-thousands retro format, rides along on the same allocation.
A Family Broadcasting Dynasty Behind the Signal
Vintage 94.1 HD2 exists because of Stereo Uno, and Stereo Uno exists because of a family that has been building radio stations in Sinaloa since the mid-1980s. According to Luz Noticias's own account of the network's history, Stereo Uno began broadcasting in April 1985 out of Los Mochis, representing the second generation of a broadcasting lineage started by businessman Manuel Ceferino Pérez Alvarado. His daughter, Sandra Luz Pérez Muñoz de Arámbula, took over the station's concession and carried the family operation forward. A third generation now runs the expanded network: Eduardo Arámbula Pérez serves as Director General of Luz Network, the company that now oversees Stereo Uno's multiple frequencies and HD subchannels across Sinaloa, including the one carrying Vintage.
Central Sinaloa's First HD Station
Stereo Uno's 94.1 signal in Culiacán holds a specific technical distinction in the region, having launched as the first HD-capable station in central Sinaloa, broadcasting at 3,000 watts. That HD infrastructure is precisely what makes a station like Vintage possible in the first place, giving Luz Network room to run a dedicated retro format without competing for a scarce FM allocation of its own.
