Skyrock Casablanca streams hip hop, top 40 and pop music to Morocco, launched on June 21, 2019 as the Moroccan branch of France's biggest rap radio network. It is free to listen right now, anywhere in the world, no account required.
Landing in a Country With Its Own Rap Movement Already Running
Skyrock did not bring rap culture to Morocco, it tapped into one that was already thriving. Moroccan rap has grown into a genuine cultural force in the country, with artists like H-Kayne, Bigg, Fnair and Zanka Flow using street language to voice political and social protest for a generation of young Moroccans unwilling to stay quiet, a movement that major cities across the country have embraced. Skyrock Casablanca arrived into that existing scene as the third stop in Skyrock's push into French-speaking Africa, following sister launches in Abidjan in 2017 and Algiers in 2018.
A French Rap Giant Finding Local Footing
The parent network's own relationship with rap came from necessity as much as taste. Skyrock launched in Paris in 1986 as a rock station before a 1996 French-language song quota law pushed it toward homegrown rap, a pivot that eventually made it the dominant rap radio brand in the French-speaking world. Carrying that identity into Casablanca means blending the network's rap DNA with the top 40 and pop that Moroccan listeners already favor, rather than simply rebroadcasting the Paris feed into a new market.
What You'll Hear
