Slovenia's Digital Home for 60s Through 80s Rock

Listen Now

Rock Radio Classics streams classic rock from the 1960s through the 1980s, a themed digital stream from Slovenia's Rock Radio network, and you can hear it live and free on Radio Shuffle from anywhere in the world.

Born From "Čisti Rock!"

Rock Radio Classics grows out of Rock Radio, a Slovenian commercial station that launched on September 8, 2014, under the ownership of Radio Center d.o.o., according to Slovenian Wikipedia's entry on the station. The flagship station built its identity around the slogan "Čisti rock!", pure rock, and a logo built from a single black guitar pick, targeting an urban audience aged 25 to 45 with 80s and 90s pop-rock across FM frequencies in Ljubljana, Maribor, and Celje.

Growing Beyond a Single City

What started as a Ljubljana station spread quickly. Rock Radio expanded into Maribor on January 17, 2016, adding the 90.8 FM frequency there on top of its original Ljubljana signals at 103.3, 107.4, and 104.1 MHz, and it now also reaches Celje on three more frequencies plus a DAB+ digital channel, per the same source. That regional footprint gave the network enough scale to spin off themed digital-only streams, including Rock Radio Classics, alongside sister channels dedicated to ballads and hard and heavy rock.

Slovenia's Rock Roots Run Deep

A classic rock stream finds fertile ground in Slovenia. Rock reached the country in the late 1950s and stayed relatively under the radar internationally until Laibach's mid-1980s breakthrough, but within the former Yugoslavia, Slovenia carved out a reputation as the center of the region's punk rock scene, producing pioneering bands like Pankrti, Niet, and Lublanski Psi, according to Wikipedia's overview of rock music in Slovenia. That history of embracing guitar-driven music outside the commercial mainstream gives a station built entirely around 60s-to-80s rock a genuine local audience to draw on.

Why Tune In

Rock Radio Classics narrows its parent network's "pure rock" identity down to three specific decades, skipping the newer material and sticking to the riffs that built the genre. For listeners who want classic rock without any modern crossover tracks mixed in, streaming out of a country with its own underappreciated rock history, it delivers exactly that.
