Drawing on One of Europe's Richest Audio Archives
Rai Radio Techetè pulls its programming from Teche Rai, widely described as Italy's largest audiovisual archive, and from the Rai Audioteca, considered one of the richest audio archives in Europe. The channel shares its naming convention and source material with Techetechetè, the long-running television clip show that has drawn on the same archives since 2012, applying that same nostalgia-driven format specifically to radio instead of television.
Reviving Decades of School Radio
One of the channel's more striking initiatives revived La Radio per le Scuole, a school radio program that originally ran from 1945 into the 1970s, rebroadcasting material to Italian schools in partnership with Italy's Ministry of Education. The special, curated by Andrea Borgnino and Silvana Matarazzo, opened with a recording of the 1965-1966 school year's opening ceremony, originally broadcast by Radiouno on November 20, 1965, giving students a direct audio link to how Italian classrooms once experienced the start of a school year.
