Rai Radio Live streams recorded concerts and major music festivals live from Italy, a digital channel of Italy's public broadcaster RAI built specifically to carry performances rather than a studio playlist. Press play on Radio Shuffle and it streams instantly, free, with no account or app download required.
One of Five Channels Launched in 2017
Rai Radio Live was announced by Rai Radio presenter Carlo Conti alongside four other new digital channels, part of an expansion that pushed Rai Radio's total channel count to 12, according to coverage of the announcement from Rockit.it. The channel was built under curator Fabrizio Cassinelli with a specific mission: connect listeners to Italy's regional festivals and major music events rather than running a standard studio format.
Built Around the Country's Biggest Stages
The channel gives substantial space to delayed broadcasts of major concerts, including performances held at Rome's Quirinale Palace, the official residence of Italy's President, a venue that occasionally opens its gardens for public concerts broadcast to a national audience. That focus on live performance recordings, rather than a continuously rotating playlist, gives Rai Radio Live an identity closer to an archive of Italian musical events than a typical music station.
