Born as Rádio Cultura
According to the station's history as told by Rádios Divinópolis, Rádio Minas began in 1946 as Rádio Cultura, with the call sign ZYH-2, founded by Coronel Jovelino Rabello. In 1961 Mayrinck Pinto de Aguiar and his wife Adelci Mattar de Aguiar took over its direction, and the early programming leaned toward romantic music. For more than 60 years it broadcast on AM, covering important events in the city and the region.
The Move to 104.1 FM
In November 2018 the station joined the wave of AM-to-FM migrations in Brazil and moved to 104.1 MHz, keeping the Minas name. Its journalism is supported by the station's website and the Portal MPA news platform, and the station is listed as part of the MPA communication system. The FM switch gave a station with a long local memory a clearer signal and a younger sound.
Divinópolis, Minas Gerais
The city sits in central-western Minas Gerais, about 110 kilometres from Belo Horizonte, and became a municipality on 1 June 1912, according to Portuguese Wikipedia.
