A hometown artist gets his own channel
Capital Bra, born Vladislav Balovatsky in Siberia in 1994, grew up in Berlin's Alt-Hohenschönhausen district after his family moved there from Dnipro, Ukraine in 2001, the same city whose Kiss FM station now runs a channel built around his music. He started rapping around age 11 and worked his way up through Berlin's battle-rap circuit, appearing at the Rap am Mittwoch event in 2014 before his 2016 debut album Kuku Bra introduced him to a wider audience.
Germany's most charted rapper
His 2018 album Berlin lebt hit number one in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and turned him into a mainstream star, kicking off a run that made him, according to figures tied to his Madame Tussauds Berlin wax figure unveiling, the first artist to place 13 number-one singles on the German charts in a single year. He has since built a business empire around the Capital Bra name, including the pizza brand Gangstarella and the iced tea brand BraTee, on top of running his own label, Bra Music, since 2019.
