Jazzy Groove streams smooth jazz, soul, lounge, and swing, one of three dedicated music channels run by Jazzy, Budapest's only radio station built specifically around jazz. You can stream it live and free right now on Radio Shuffle, wherever you are in the world.
Launched on Valentine's Day, 2007
Jazzy went on air on February 14, 2007, broadcasting on 90.9 MHz from Budapest's Sashegy transmission tower, according to Hungarian Wikipedia's history of the station. The timing suited the format: a station built around smooth jazz, soul, lounge, and swing launching on the one day of the year practically built for that kind of music. The signal reaches Budapest and roughly 25 to 35 kilometers beyond, run by Magyar Jazz Rádió Kft. under managing director Antal Zoltán.
The Only Applicant Left Standing
Jazzy's original broadcast license ran through October 27, 2018, and when Hungary's National Media and Infocommunications Authority reviewed the frequency in January 2019, Jazzy was the only applicant, according to the same source. That secured the station's future on 90.9 MHz without a contest, a quiet vote of confidence for a niche format in a capital city radio market that could easily have replaced it with something more commercially safe.
A 2022 Rebrand That Split the Sound Into Three
The station dropped "90.9" from its name entirely on December 15, 2022, rebranding simply as Jazzy under the new motto "Together we are." That relaunch also split the station's music into three distinct digital channels: Jazzy Cool, Jazzy Soul, and Jazzy Groove, letting listeners pick a specific mood rather than taking whatever the main signal happened to be playing. Groove leans into the more rhythmic, danceable end of that spectrum, sitting alongside Cool's laid-back smooth jazz and Soul's deeper R&B leanings.
Tune In
Launched on Valentine's Day and still the only jazz-dedicated station on Budapest's dial nearly two decades later, Jazzy Groove carries that legacy forward in one focused, groove-heavy stream. Stream it free on Radio Shuffle to hear it live.
