Heart plays hot adult contemporary hits nationwide across the United Kingdom, mixing today's pop and feel-good chart music with familiar favorites from recent decades under the slogan "Turn Up the Feel Good!" It streams live on Radio Shuffle right now, free, with no account or app download needed, the same national feed heard on FM, DAB, Global Player, Freeview, and Sky across Britain.

From a single Midlands frequency to the UK's biggest radio brand

Heart began life on September 6, 1994 as "100.7 Heart FM" in the West Midlands, the UK's third Independent Regional Radio station, with the first song ever played on air being Simply Red's "Something Got Me Started," according to the network's own history. Heart reached London the following year, testing on 106.2 FM before launching properly in August 1995, and by 1996 the station had already shifted its sound from a softer adult contemporary format to the hotter, more upbeat style it still uses today.

The single station grew into a national network largely through acquisition. Global Media & Entertainment took over the brand and rolled it out across dozens of local stations starting in 2009, then absorbed an entire rival network between 2012 and 2014 by rebranding every Real Radio station in the country under the Heart name. In 2025, Heart's remaining England stations dropped local programming entirely in favor of one shared national schedule.

The UK's biggest radio brand

That consolidation paid off in scale. According to RAJAR ratings data for the fourth quarter of 2025, Heart now reaches 12.71 million listeners a week, making it the single biggest radio brand in the United Kingdom by audience. Its flagship show, Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, alone draws around 4.1 million listeners each week. Beyond the main national feed, the Heart family also runs a set of decade-specific spinoff stations covering the 70s through the 2010s, plus a dedicated Heart Dance channel, giving the brand a foothold in nearly every corner of British mainstream pop history.
