The frequency behind Fiesta Mexicana has been broadcasting since April 1, 1970, when it launched as XEFAC-AM, named for its original concessionaire, Felipe Arizaga Castillo, according to a history of the station. It ran as a daytime-only signal on 1380 kHz before moving to 1290 AM in the 1980s to add nighttime service, then migrated to 92.9 FM in 2012. The station briefly operated under Multimedios Radio as a grupera format called La Lupe starting in 2020 before Radiorama took over and relaunched it as Fiesta Mexicana, the identity it carries today.
A City Built by River Crossings
Salvatierra sits on the Lerma River in southern Guanajuato, and its historic core reflects centuries of building around those crossings, with stone bridges, haciendas, convents and colonial-era houses dense enough that more than 240 buildings from the 17th through 19th centuries were formally protected as a historic monument zone in 2024, according to Salvatierra's own history. The city also has a documented role in Mexico's larger national story, from resisting insurgent forces during the War of Independence to falling to Obregón's troops during the Revolution.
