Capital FM Edinburgh streams today's biggest pop and chart hits, the Edinburgh feed of Scotland's No.1 hit music station, reaching listeners across the country's Central Belt. Press play above and it streams instantly, free, with no account or app download required.
Born From Glasgow Nightclub Promoters
The station traces back to Beat 106, which launched on November 19, 1999, built by the Big Beat Group, a collective of Glasgow nightclub promoters, with Graham Stewart and Jim Gellatly among its earliest on-air voices. That nightclub pedigree shaped a station built from the start around dance and chart music rather than a traditional local radio format.
Four Names in Two Decades
Few British stations have rebranded as often. Beat 106 became XFM Scotland in 2006, then Galaxy Scotland in 2008, before settling into its current identity as Capital Scotland in 2011. Ownership shifted alongside the names, from the Capital Radio Group's acquisition in 2000 through GCap Media in 2005 and eventually Global Radio, before Communicorp UK took over in 2014.
One Station, Two Cities
Capital Scotland broadcasts on FM from the Craigkelly and Black Hill transmitters, plus DAB, reaching both Glasgow and Edinburgh across Scotland's Central Belt from its Glasgow studios. The Edinburgh stream carries that same "Scotland's No.1 Hit Music Station" identity to listeners in the capital, giving the city its own branded feed inside a station built to serve the whole region at once.
Listen to Capital FM Edinburgh Free on Radio Shuffle
Capital FM Edinburgh streams around the clock, and Radio Shuffle carries the feed live with nothing to install and no subscription required. Press play for today's hit music from a station built out of Glasgow's 1990s club scene.
