Cadena Dial is a Spanish radio station that plays only pop and ballads in Spanish, aimed at a family audience with a soft adult contemporary sound. It broadcasts on FM across Spain and Andorra, on digital terrestrial television and online, and you can hear it live here on Radio Shuffle for free.

What Cadena Dial Plays

According to Spanish Wikipedia's entry on the station, Cadena Dial exclusively broadcasts pop music in Spanish, in an adult contemporary format for a family audience, with most of its listeners being women between 35 and 65. The network operates 107 FM frequencies across Spain and Andorra, plus mobile app variants such as Dial Baladas and Dial Latino. It is owned by Prisa Radio, which also runs Cadena SER and the Los 40 stations.

From Radio Corazón to a Network

The station began on 3 September 1990, evolving from Radio Corazón, a local Madrid station, and the launch campaign featured big names such as Julio Iglesias, Rocío Jurado and Raphael, as the same Wikipedia entry records. That heritage explains its taste for melodic, lyrical songs: a station born from an older Spanish-language music format, expanded into a national network. According to 2025 figures cited there, it ranks as Spain's third most-listened music radio station.

The Premios Dial

Cadena Dial's best-known event is the Premios Dial, awards given since 1996 to the most successful artists and groups singing in Spanish, with Alejandro Sanz as the first recipient, as described by Spanish Wikipedia's page on the awards. The ceremony was staged in Madrid until 2006 and has been held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife's Auditorio de Tenerife since 2007. The Tenerife tourism board's blog covered the 29th edition and its winners in January 2025.

Why It Matters for Spanish-Language Pop

Because Cadena Dial plays nothing but Spanish-language songs, it is a useful window into what is popular across Spain, Latin America and the artists who bridge both. Around the awards, the station also gives space to big concerts and performers from across the Spanish-speaking world, which keeps the format connected to live music.
