Built for the Largest OFW Community in the Eastern Province
Dammam is home to the largest population of overseas Filipino workers anywhere in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Region, with an estimated 30,000 Filipinos living and working in the city. Bestfriend FM broadcasts directly into that community, giving migrant workers far from home a station in their own language rather than relying solely on Saudi or international programming.
Part of a Wider OFW Radio Tradition
Bestfriend FM is not alone in that role. Stations like I-Radio KSA, formed through the Filipino alliance TAMA-KSA, grew specifically to forge unity between Filipino community groups across the kingdom and to pair entertainment with practical information sourced from the Philippine Embassy. Bestfriend FM fits into that same tradition of OFW-run or OFW-focused stations that exist to keep homesick workers connected to Filipino music and each other.
A Phrase Every Filipino Radio Listener Knows
The station's "bestfriend" branding taps into one of Philippine radio's most recognizable catchphrases. Stations across the Philippines, including several run by the Radio Mindanao Network under its iFM brand, have long used the slogan "Ang Bestfriend Mo!", your best friend, to describe the comforting, companionable role radio plays in Filipino daily life. Carrying that same phrase into an Eastern Province broadcast makes the message explicit for listeners working far from home: this station is meant to feel like family.
Tune In
From a Gulf coast city holding tens of thousands of Filipino workers to a station built around one of Philippine radio's most familiar phrases, Bestfriend FM gives the OFW community in Dammam a voice from home. Stream it free on Radio Shuffle anytime.
