Most 90s stations chase the decade's biggest, loudest hits. 90s90s Dinnerparty does something quieter. It takes the same decade and filters it down to exactly one mood: good wine, good friends, and a candlelit table.

One Channel Among Fifteen

Dinnerparty is one of roughly fifteen curated channels run by 90s90s Radio, a private German network launched by broadcaster Regiocast on 29 November 2016, according to the network's history. The flagship "90er Hits" program anchors the operation, but Regiocast built out a wide bench of genre and mood-specific spin-offs around it, covering everything from Eurodance to Britpop, with Dinnerparty carved out as the network's answer to a candlelight dinner rather than a dance floor.

Built for the Table, Not the Chart

The channel's own description leans directly into that concept: relaxed 90s songs for a good evening, with good wine, with good friends, according to the station's programming page. Rather than the era's biggest chart hits played straight, Dinnerparty rotates smoother, more soulful material, Janet Jackson, TLC, Prince, Macy Gray and George Michael, and leans on gentler remixes and cover versions of familiar 90s songs instead of the original chart cuts. It is programming built around a specific evening, not a specific chart position.

From Regional Stream to National Signal

90s90s Radio spent its early years as a primarily internet-distributed network before new studios opened in Berlin in spring 2017 expanded its production capacity. The bigger shift came on 2 January 2023, when the network's main program began nationwide digital terrestrial broadcasting via DAB+, moving 90s90s from an app-and-web operation into something closer to a full national station, with channels like Dinnerparty riding along as part of the same streaming family.

A Sister Station With Its Own Sibling

90s90s operates as the sister program to 80s80s, another Regiocast nostalgia network built on the same playbook: take a decade, split it into moods and sub-genres, and let listeners pick the exact version of that decade they want to hear. Dinnerparty is what that strategy looks like when the target mood isn't a genre at all, it's a dinner table.

A Very Specific Kind of Nostalgia

What makes Dinnerparty worth a listen isn't just the artist list, it's the restraint. Most decade-format stations try to cover as much ground as possible. Dinnerparty picks one evening, one atmosphere, and stays there, turning 90s R&B and soul into something closer to ambient dinner music than a retro throwback.
